PERSONALITY TRAITS: Zarra is initially shy when meeting people and you need to earn her trust to touch her or pick her up. Once you have done so, she will become very communicative with you about everything - she frequently "head butts" her foster's hand for pets and she will vocally request changes in the environment when she is uncomfortable. She loves to play with the other dogs in her foster home.

LIKES: She loves to be where the action is and loves to get treats and play with other dogs.

DISLIKES: Car rides, people trying to pick her up from the ground, walking on leash

POTTY TRAINING: Does very well with frequent opportunities to go outside.

CRATE TRAINING: She will go into her crate if you place a treat in there and back off, allowing her to go in at her own pace and not feel shoved or rushed. She sleeps in the crate at night in her foster home and when no one is home and does well. She will let you know if she needs to go potty if she is in the crate and has to go and has had no accidents in her crate.

OTHER/MISC: Prior to coming to her current foster, she was fostered in California and arrived in pretty rough shape. She needed grooming to get her coat unmatted and she needed time to learn that she was allowed in the house. ZARRA wants to be loved and once she trusts you, she will snuggle and be right by your side. But she needs time and understanding to get there. We are confident she can learn to walk on leash, and enjoy car adventures, but those things will take some time too. She would do best in a home with a fenced yard, with another dog to show her the ropes and to play with so she can get her wiggles out.
